A message from Officer Commanding 1244 (Swindon) Squadron:

Who would have thought that when I joined this wonderful Squadron nearly 7 years ago, that I would be the one steering it into its 75th year.  The Squadron continues to grow from strength to strength and it is all down to the dedicated, hard working staff and cadets who strive to make it a very successful Squadron.  I am very proud to be the Officer Commanding of 1244 Swindon Squadron and I think ts true to say 2016 has been the busiest and most challenging year for us yet.

In celebration of our own anniversary we threw a huge Fun Day for the public, and coming up our Dining in Night, at which many ex-staff and cadets of the Squadron will be joining us.  During 2016 we have been re-adopted by the Swindon Branch of RAFA, and are now affiliated to the Royal British Legion, both of which are fantastic supporters of the Air Cadets and a Honour for the Squadron.  The staff and cadets have been very busy with rebuilding our website and I hope you enjoy the new look and its content.  They have set out to make it more informative and user friendly and I think they have achieved exactly that, and I look forward to its continued growth.

Well done 1244 Swindon Squadron, keep up the good work and here’s to the next 75 years!

Flight Lieutenant Ian Kent RAFVR(T)
Officer Commanding, 1244 (Swindon) Squadron
